Extras - all optional but desirable
1. Heat oven to 180C/fan160C/gas4. Heat sugar, syrup, butter and chopped dates in a pan until the dates are soft and everything else has melted and is frothing. Stir the frothing mixture for about 3 mins. Remove from the heat.
2. Add oats, flour, nuts, seeds, etc (all the remaining ingredients). Pour into a non-stick tin approx 20cm x 16cm and press down lightly.
3. Bake for about 14-15 mins until slightly brown, then check at short intervals, to achieve a result that you like
4. Allow to cool in the tin, then turn out while still warm and cut into pieces to desired size.
