We are booked into a B&B with capacity for 16 people on a sole occupancy basis on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th October 2016.
It is Collett's base in the Yorkshire Dales - Eastfield Lodge B&B, 1 St Matthew's Terrace, Leyburn, Wensleydale DL8 5EL.
All you need to do is turn up on Friday night.
I've planned walks for the Saturday and Sunday (see below), or you can do your own thing. On Saturday night we'll eat together at 7.30pm at Thirteen in Leyburn. That meal, and any drinks and lunches over the weekend is all you'll have to pay for. At Thirteen you should pay for your own drinks and let me have cash with which I'll settle the food bill. I'll let you know how much, and it may be easier if you let me have that money before we go out.
On the Friday night I'll provide a supper in the B&B for those who would like it - from any time after 7pm. It'll be fish pie, beef lasagne and veggie lasagne (or a bit of each). Let me know if you are not taking advantage of this, I'm currently expecting everyone to participate, albeit there may be some later arrivals. (Sadly, unless Humphrey is being very secretive, there will be no book launch this year, but I'm sure we can find something to raise a glass to!)
On Saturday morning Humphrey and Mary are going on a tour of the local horse racing stable yards and would be delighted for others to join them. It costs £12.50 per person and details and bookings are available from here.
The walks:
Saturday: whilst you are free to do whatever you want, I'm planning a 20km (12.5 miles) anticlockwise circuit from Redmire or Castle Bolton (depending on parking - Redmire Station is my choice), heading north of Carperby to Hazel Bank, then following the river to Aysgarth before heading back via Aysgarth Falls and Thoresby Lane. There are pubs in Aysgarth after 14 km, and a cafe by Aysgarth Falls. Anyone wanting a shorter walk could take one of a number of shorter routes to Aysgarth, via Carperby. You'll have to sort out your own lunches. There's also a train service that some may wish to take advantage of. If there was an earlier train than 10.38 I'd suggest using it, but I think we should aim to leave Leyburn at 9.30 to 10 o'clock.
Sunday: Sue and I were joined last year by Alan and Sheila on a shorter 16 km circuit via Middleham. This year I suggest a similar route in a clockwise direction, from Leyburn to Middleham via Wensley, with lunch in Middleham after about 9 km. Feel free to join us on that walk or do your own thing. You'll need to sort out your own lunches - a pub lunch in Middleham looks a good bet.
We can discuss all this on Friday evening and if there is overwhelming support for an alternative suggestion that's fine by me.
Any queries or uncertainties - please let me know or call me on +447968122170. There is more information below.
With all best wishes

Here is the 2015 acknowledgement from Collett's, which I imagine was worded similarly this year (I haven't spotted it).
